Car travel tips

Swiss motorway vignette
Do you want to use the motorways in Switzerland? If so, you’ll need to buy a vignette (motorway toll sticker, in German Autobahnvignette).
You can buy a vignette in two places:
- In person at designated sales points.
- Online via the official website: www.e-vignette.ch
Find out more below.
Buying a vignette in person:
You can buy a vignette at some sales outlets. These include, for example, some petrol stations near the Swiss border, as well as some post office counters and customs offices at the border.
Tip: You can also buy a vignette in advance whilst abroad. Here you will find an overview of the sales outlets. This way, you can often drive straight through more easily, instead of standing in a potentially long queue.

Buying a vignette online
You can buy a vignette online via the official website: www.e-vignette.ch Please note: only order via this website (and not via other websites)! There are many (sometimes fraudulent) websites that offer vignettes at higher prices or sometimes fail to deliver at all.
The prices for the vignette must always be the same everywhere (in-store and online).
Only annual vignettes are available. Check the current validity yourself.
